The Indian River Photo Club holds an “Awards” competitions at each of the ten monthly meetings. Paid-up members are encouraged to enter photographs taken by them under a theme that changes each month. From time to time an “Open Awards” theme may be run concurrently with the named theme.

The members submissions are also grouped under three categories: Color, Monochrome or Special Techniques.

A member is classed as “B”  a novice or “A” advanced and may enter one photograph in each of the three categories.

Photographs may be mounted and/or matted and judging is undertaken by invited judges who have proven their skills in the art of photography.

Awards are given for first, second, third places as well as honorable mentions for those that do not quite achieve a higher placing.

The ten monthly awards competitions culminate with “The Best Picture of the Year” selection which is made at the club’s Annual General Meeting in early December.  This selection is in two parts. Those selected by invited judges and those selected through a ballot of the membership present at the AGM.
